Advocacy to China
A delegation of 13 Chinese government officials, including the minister of religion, visited South Africa in July. Their purpose: to explore and study models of Church State relations in South Africa, as well as Kenya and India. TEASA co-hosted their visit in Johannesburg and in this way contributed to the way Chinese policy makers see the role of the Church in the nation. International Advocacy is an important part of our work.
Solidarity with Sudan
The Evangelical Alliance of Sudan issued an invitation to Churches in South Africa to explore how they might be in solidarity with South Sudanese churches. This invitation was given at the occasion of the Lausanne conference held in Cape Town in 2010. As a result TEASA facilitated a delegation of TEASA and South African Council of Churches (SACC) to travel to Sudan on a fact finding mission. The report will be shared with churches in South Africa to promote Church – church partnership and solidarity.
